The long-awaited question of when we can expect Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) on the PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X has finally been partially answered. Although Rockstar Games, the developers behind this highly anticipated title, have remained tight-lipped about an official release date for quite some time now, recent updates from various sources suggest that we can expect GTA V to hit these next-generation consoles soon.

According to a report by IGN back in 2016, game analyst Michael Pachter had made an intriguing prediction regarding the future of Grand Theft Auto. According to his claims, he believed that Rockstar was already working on a story for GTA VI and even went so far as to predict when we could expect it - two-and-a-half years after the release of its predecessor (GTA V), which would put us at around fall 2017.

Fast forward to March 2022, however, and fans were left disappointed once again. During an earnings call earlier that month, Take-Two Interactive's CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed very little about Rockstar's plans for the next installment in the highly successful Grand Theft Auto series. Although he did confirm that GTA V would indeed be receiving a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S port at some point down the line.

Fast forward to May 2022, however, and finally, we got our answer - sort of! During an interview with GamesRant's Steven Bar Kessel (formerly SVP for Core Technology), Rockstar confirmed that yes indeed GTA V would be making its way onto next-gen consoles. Unfortunately though, they didn't give us any specific details about exactly when this might happen.

But don't worry fellow gamers - all hope isn't lost yet! As part of their ongoing efforts to keep fans engaged until then (and no doubt generate some much-needed hype for the impending release), Rockstar has teased that players can expect a whole host of new features and improvements over its last-gen counterpart when GTA V does finally arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

So while we still don't know exactly when or how long it'll be before we're able to get our hands on Grand Theft Auto VI, one thing is certain - Rockstar hasn't forgotten about us! In the meantime though, there's always plenty of fun (and excitement) to be had with GTA Online and its ever-evolving world.
